The fridge temperature log an EHO expects to see

A free printable temperature log template for your fridges, freezers and cold rooms, plus a checklist of the records an Environmental Health Officer asks for at inspection. Two pages, ready to print, built for UK food businesses.

What is inside

Two pages that keep the paperwork straight

The template follows the pattern EHOs see every week: readings at least twice a day per unit, initials against every check, and a written corrective action next to anything out of range. The checklist walks the rest of the records so nothing is a surprise on inspection day.

Page 1: the temperature log

  • One sheet per unit per month, 31 days
  • Morning and evening readings with initials
  • A corrective action column for out of range readings
  • Working guide: fridges at 5 °C or below, freezers at minus 18 °C or below

Page 2: the EHO records checklist

  • Daily records: temperatures, deliveries, corrective actions
  • Weekly checks: probe accuracy, cleaning sign off
  • Documents: HACCP or SFBB pack, training, suppliers, pest control
  • Closing out actions from the last inspection

Why give this away? Because the template is the easy part. A sheet filled in twice a day cannot see the sixteen hours in between, and a walk in that drifts overnight leaves no trace on paper. If the log ever shows you a unit creeping warmer week on week, that is the moment to look at continuous monitoring. Until then, the paperwork above keeps you straight.
