Reference case · 10-week deployment

Ten weeks of live monitoring caught 10 temperature breaches the paper logs missed.

Tn1 Bar & Kitchen, an independent UK restaurant. Two walk-in units. Continuous wireless sensors in place of paper temperature sheets. The result is a clear record of what the manual process had been missing.

01 · The setup

Paper sheets, replaced by sensors that never miss a shift

The kitchen logged fridge and freezer temperatures the way most do: by hand, a few times a day, on paper. A missed reading only showed up at a review or an inspection. DVM clipped wireless sensors onto the two walk-in units. They take a reading every few minutes, day and night, and when a temperature goes out of range it sends an alert to WhatsApp. Over 10 weeks that produced 41,657 readings, a continuous, tamper evident record no paper log can match.

02 · What it caught

Two units, two very different stories

Walk-in Freezer

Target −18 °C · alert above −11 °C · 11,626 readings
Average temperature−15.3 °C
Peak (warmest reading)+9.7 °C
Sustained breaches (90 min+)4
Hours above safe limit55.2
Genuine food-risk events3
Verdict: mixed, door-driven events and breaches needing a same-day check

Walk-in Fridge

Target +4 °C · alert above +8 °C · 30,031 readings
Average temperature+5.5 °C
Peak (warmest reading)+15.2 °C
Sustained breaches (90 min+)6
Hours above safe limit67.2
Longest door-open episode126 min
Verdict: door-driven, a fault was ruled out

The freezer story: four times it drifted above safe temperature for over 90 minutes, three of them into genuine food-risk territory. The record separated them: some were a door standing open during service, the rest the door could not explain — the kind that needs a same-day question, whether it turns out to be new stock going in, a clean-down, or a failing unit. Exactly the mix a paper check can never untangle, and the kind of quiet event that spoils stock or fails an inspection before anyone notices.

03 · The part that matters most

It tells a door left open apart from a breach that needs action

Most monitoring kit screams every time a temperature ticks up, and a busy kitchen door causes that constantly. So staff learn to ignore the alarms. On the fridge, the majority of raw temperature spikes were simply a door left open, once for over two hours. ColdAssure classified those as door-driven and filtered them out, while flagging the breaches the door could not explain for a same-day check. The team only sees the alerts that actually need acting on.

Why this is the difference: trustworthy alerts. A system that cries wolf gets switched off. One that separates "someone left the door open" from "something in there needs someone now" is one a head office can actually rely on across every site.

04 · How it works

Nothing for the kitchen to do

  • Sensors clip onto each fridge and cold room. No wiring, no kitchen disruption, no app for staff to remember to fill in.
  • Readings run automatically, day and night. Every few minutes, captured to a continuous record that can't be back-filled or forgotten.
  • Out-of-range goes straight to WhatsApp. The right person hears about a problem the same night, not at the next audit.
  • Real faults are separated from door noise. So the alerts stay credible and the food-safety record stands up to an inspection.

05 · Bottom line

10 weeks of proof, from one small site

Across a single restaurant, in ten weeks, ColdAssure surfaced ten sustained temperature breaches and 122 hours above safe range that a paper process had missed, caught three genuine food-safety risk events, and correctly separated door-driven episodes from the breaches that needed a same-day check. The same sensors, the same dashboard, scale across a multi-site group, with each site visible without a single manual check.

"We kept our fridge temperatures on paper for years and assumed everything was fine. In ten weeks ColdAssure showed us exactly when it wasn't, and just as importantly, told the difference between a real fault and a door someone left open. It's the first time the alerts have been worth acting on. It gives me peace of mind." Murat Aşkın, Owner, Tn1 Bar & Kitchen
